Originally from Lubbock, Texas, Japan-based photographer David R Munson has been consistently driven by his curiosity since first picking up a camera in 1996.

Never having intended to become an artist, he originally wanted to be a scientist, and that spirit of inquiry remains elemental in his work. Over the years, his interests and influences have only grown more diverse, ranging from DADAist poetry and Taoist philosophy to industrial design, Metabolist architecture, fermentation, urban planning, the science of memory, and many, many more.

He has spent decades using photography as a vehicle for examining and interpreting the world around him. He believes that the ordinary details of the world have volumes to tell us if we listen and allow them to speak in their own voices.
